Facing forward

Now that Samson has become more active and is holding his head up fairly well, he sometimes gets frustrated in the sling when he is facing toward Mama (unless he's sleepy and ready for a nap). This afternoon, we experimented with changing his direction while Mama made sandwiches for lunch. He enjoyed himself for about 20 minutes and then the fussing began. By the time he got out of the sling, he was ready for nap and immediately conked out on Daddy's shoulder.

In the background of this shot, you can see Samson's favorite amusement in the world (other than Mama's face): the Whoozit Spinning Musical Mobile. Every morning, his first activity of the day is to lie beneath this toy and smile while having his diaper changed. Once the music is finished and the mobile stops spinning, it's time to turn on the music from Baby Tad (thanks, Brezinas!) and manually spin the mobile so that it turns for a while longer. As Samson marvels at the stars and comets, Mama is able to run to the bathroom, brush her teeth, and maybe grab a bowl of cereal before boredom sets in and he demands a new activity.
